Video Assessment Tips
Treat it like any other assessment
You will be asked questions about your past work experiences. If you haven’t worked in a while or can’t think of an example don’t worry. Just do your best.
You can even keep your notes next to you in case you need a reminder during the assessment. As you prepare, we suggest the “STAR” framework to stay organized. It stands for “Situation,” “Task,” “Action,” and “Result.” Describe the situation you were in, the task at hand, the actions you took, and the results.
Decide which device you will use
Smartphones, tablets, or a computer with internet access, a microphone, and a front-facing camera are all compatible with the video assessment. Some people find it easier to take the assessment on a larger screen. You can switch devices midway through the video assessment if you find you are having an issue.
You can use any internet browser EXCEPT Internet Explorer
Pick the perfect environment
Since you can take the assessment from anywhere, make sure it’s somewhere you’re comfortable. Pick a spot free from distractions and noise. Make sure you’ve got the strongest wifi signal possible.
Lighting coming from in front of you will give the best results; lighting from behind isn’t flattering. The quality of the lighting isn't the most important part. We just need to be able to hear your clearly. You can even keep it dark if that would make you more comfortable. Don’t worry about making eye contact with the camera. Just be natural.
Set aside roughly an hour to take your video assessment
Most people take roughly 20-30 minutes to complete their assessment. Having an hour allows you to take your time, practice, and give the best answers. You will have 6 attempts to answer each question.
Don’t panic if you have a technical hiccup or a distraction comes up. You don’t need to complete the interview in one sitting.
Lastly, be yourself!
This is your chance to share what you offer. Try to relax, have fun, and let your skills and personality do the talking! Most importantly, be real. Speak in a way that feels comfortable. Get excited and share your energy with the camera, letting your personality shine through. You’ll be great.
